The National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) recently organized a National Inclusive Education Policy Workshop on July 22, 2025, in Abuja.
The workshop aimed at revising and implementing the National Policy on Inclusive Education, focusing on domesticating the policy across Nigeria’s 36 states.
The workshop’s theme was “Strengthening Inclusive Education For Equitable Learning In Nigeria”, aligning with Sustainable Development Goal, which promotes inclusive and equitable quality education.
The Technical Assistant to the NCPWD, Dr Adebukola Adebayo emphasized that the workshop is crucial for advocating inclusive education in Nigeria, allowing stakeholders to align perspectives, identify challenges, and develop coordinated strategies.
Honorable Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Ahmad, reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring every Nigerian child, regardless of disability, gender, background, or circumstances, has an equal opportunity to learn and thrive.
The stakeholders at the workshop including development partners like Partnership for Learning for All in Nigeria, Sightsaver Nigeria, British Council, UNICEF, PLAN International, and TAF Africa, unanimously committed to working with the NCPWD to implement the inclusive education policy.
