The Development Research and Projects Centre (dRPC) has awarded N85 million to 17 women-led non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Nigeria, supported by the Ford Foundation. This initiative aims to bridge funding gaps resulting from USAID funding cuts, providing each NGO with N5 million to implement projects over three months.

The grant supports NGOs facing financial difficulties, ensuring their continued operations and positive impact on communities.

The projects will address social issues, strengthen institutional capacity, and improve effectiveness in areas like health, education, and economic development.

Dr. Judith-Ann Walker, Executive Director of dRPC, described the grant as a “lifeline” for many NGOs, enabling them to navigate the funding crisis and maintain their valuable contributions to society.

The grant ensures the long-term viability of civil society organizations, enabling them to maintain operations and continue having a positive impact.

The initiative offers opportunities for NGOs to strengthen their capacities and improve effectiveness in addressing social issues.

Recipients are urged to ensure transparency and accountability in implementing projects, with potential access to a second cohort of funding.
